The West Virginia Center for Nursing offers this Nurse Residency Program Model as a guide to health care agencies who are motivated to shed outdated, ineffective methods of addressing recruitment and retention and who are willing to accept and embrace progressive change in the profession of nursing.
This model is available for you to download and use or revise as needed for your institution. In addition, general policies and procedures have been created to assist you in developing this program more efficiently. The Center for Nursing is here to assist you in any way you think will be helpful if you are interested in discussing implementing a Nurse Residency Program in your institution.
The only stipulation to using this model is that the Center for Nursing be given credit for its development and that any data gathered by you to demonstrate the effects on your recruitment and retention for your facility is shared with us. We will only generalize the information you supply and it will not be able to be traced back to any particular institution unless you give permission to do so.
